In this prologue for The Downey Chronicles, I would first like to express my sentiments and motivations for what will be my first attempt at a series of articles focusing on one specific subject, while also expound on the larger issues affecting the mortgage, finance, and real estate industries - or the Three Amigos as I don’t like to call them (so you won’t have to see that again, I promise). We all know that as one of them goes, so will the others.
Anyway, having worked as a contract analyst for banks at the corporate level providing competitive analysis of mortgage programs, products and underwriting, I was able to gain an independent perspective on these three inseparable industries, not as a loan officer or broker, not as an underwriter or title agent, nor as an executive or a regulator.
